One quarter of Kenya’s population has no education. Slightly over half of the Kenyan population has primary education only (1st to 8th grade) and only 23 percent of the population has secondary education (9th to 12th grade) and above.
In rural areas, one-third of the population has no education and slightly over half have primary education only. Only four out of every 25 people in rural areas have secondary education.
2.5 million children ages 4–17 have never been to school. About 3 million children are engaged in child labor.
Our goal is to support children’s development by providing access to education. Without the skills to earn a living, they are likely to re-enter the cycle of poverty once they become adults.
Our education program focuses on providing financial support, which includes but not limited to tuition, school uniforms and supplies, and pocket money, that will enable every child under our care to have an opportunity to attend school, whether primary, secondary, college or vocational training.
