“Bonnie” Moraa, our Project Manager in Kenya. She holds a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from the University of Nairobi.
Bonnie’s passion for serving vulnerable children began in 2008 when she launched a feeding program in one of the slums of Nairobi. Through her work, she observed that many of the children receiving meals were of school-age but were not enrolled in school. Upon further investigation, she discovered that many came from single-parent households, while others were orphans whose parents or guardians could not afford to send them to school.
Motivated by this need, Bonnie established a school to provide educational opportunities for these vulnerable and underserved children, while also serving students from neighboring middle-income communities. Under her leadership, the school grew to serve more than 400 pupils, nearly half of whom came from disadvantaged backgrounds. Due to circumstances brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, the school was forced to close in 2021. Nevertheless, Bonnie’s commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children remained unwavering.
Bonnie has a wealth of experience in identifying, supporting, and advocating for vulnerable children. Her dedication, leadership, and deep understanding of the needs of underserved children play a vital role in advancing the Foundation’s mission and achieving its vision of creating brighter futures for children in need.
